So everyone calls me G, short for Gerbrand. My design career started in the late eighties in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Currently my practice focusses on mentoring designers and my studio work involves translating complex systems into straightforward delightful visual design.
Currently I am starting up a business that makes delicious nut cheese, called High Culture.
In 2021 I co-chaired Waiheke Connect, creating connections for a positive impact on Waiheke Island and I am a member of the Communication team of the Waiheke Marine Project.
Recently I set up and ran the UX/UI programme at AUT resulting in highly awarded student work.
Together with friends, Matt and Emma, I co-founded UX Homegrown, an independent one day conference by and for Aotearoa.
Some of my public talks include TEDxUtrecht, Creative Mornings Auckland and Radio New Zealand.
In 2022 my partner and I started High Culture – Waiheke Island Nut Cheese, a bespoke vegan and organic cheese atelier on Waiheke Island. We create artisan ‘des bûches’ based on activated cultured cashew nuts.
Visit me on the beautiful island of Waiheke. Or drop me a line.
